August 14: Field Trip to Pipe Creek Jr. Quarry—Indiana
This field trip is arranged by the Ft. Wayne club and is to a quarry we
have not collected in previously. Participants may collect fossils such
as trilobites, corals, brachiopods, etc. Meet at Quarry office at
7:45 am; leave quarry by noon.
Minimum age: 12 years. Required
safety equipment: hard hat, steel-toe safety boots, safety glasses, long
pants. Suggested tools: rock pick, chisels, crack hammer;
containers & wrapping material to protect your specimens.
Sign up prior to August 9; sheet will be at the picnic.
Directions: Take I-69 south to mile marker 59 (Gas City). Go west on US
35 & IN 22 approx. 7 miles to CR 600 W; turn south 1 mile to CR 600 S.
Turn west to first drive (office) Motel possibility: Best Western
