Welcome To
Tulip City Gem & Mineral Club

Our non-profit club aims to foster an interest in and enhance knowledge of minerals, rocks, gems, fossils, and the lapidary arts. To learn more, please visit our Club Info page. TCG&MC organizes an annual show, publishes a monthly newsletter named the Conglomerate, and connects rock enthusiasts through various platforms, including social media, our website, and in-person events.

All are welcome to meetings! You do not need to be a member to attend general meetings. Meetings are typically held at 7 PM the last Wednesday of every month at the Howard Miller Library,
14 S Church St, Zeeland, MI 49464. Visit our Club Calendar page for specific meeting dates and times. We can't wait to meet you!

Announcements

Our next general meeting is on December 17th.

Meetings are held at the Howard Miller Community Center, 14 S. Church St. Zeeland, MI 49464. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM. All are welcome, and you do not need to be a member to attend the general meetings. For more information, see our club calendar.

A note from last month's newsletter:

As fall changes to winter and we feel the crisp breeze as we step outside, we look to rearranging our indoor displays, polishing, and creating with our rocks, better yet, some will head south to continue the hunt when you can feel your fingers. We will be here counting down the days for that spring thaw, the first peak at what Mother Nature has given us this year. I am not ready to say I've had my last 2025 hunt, but I am super excited to try some new crafts and be more creative than ever. This will be a great Month to be a Junior as Rick Smith showcases his talents while teaching the youth in our club how to make gem trees. How EXCITING! As for the general meeting, it is going to look like a party in the 80s with flashy neon colors from all of the Fluorescent minerals! This has been a topic I have wanted to present for quite some time. Well, what better time than now! The minerals are not new; however, the hobby of fluorescent mineral collecting is newer. Technology has come so far in the past 7 years. UV flashlights are now affordable for most people, and minerals and fossils will fluoresce or even phosphoresce, so now everyone can get out and try. This will be fun and informative, and we will even have some displays! As we look forward to next month, we will have our Holiday meeting, which will be a lot of fun! We will even get to see some of the differences a SW light makes with some minerals.
