Norman & Helen Gibson Geology Field Study Scholarships
This scholarship is named after Norman and Helen Gibson and was started by their children. Tulip City contributes to the fund regularly. This scholarship, like hundreds of others, is under the guidance of the Grand Valley State University Foundation, and is a great opportunity for tax deductible donations. Members of the Tulip City Gem and Mineral Club raise funds through the annual banquet raffle. These scholarships go to summer research at GVSU. GVSU decides how to award this money.

Joe Moran Scholarship
This scholarship is named after Joe Moran who established the Tulip City Gem and Mineral Club in 1967. Joe was a recreation Department Director for the city of Holland. Money collected for this scholarship is awarded to Tulip City youth members who are considering college study in a geological field. If you are a Tulip City Junior Member on your way to higher education and you are pursuing a degree in a geological field, reach out to the board using the Contact Us page, or come to a general meeting and speak to one of us.
Historical Scholarships Awarded to Hope & GVSU Students
As part of its mission to educate, the Club has provided annual scholarships to geology students at Hope College and GVSU since 1975. These awards are presented at a spring banquet to which the students, their families and the geology professor are invited. The scholarships have ranged up to $2,500 in a single year. The cumulative total awarded to date is nearly $65,000. The annual club show is the Club's primary source of income and makes these scholarships possible.
